What are you doing for the 4th?

I was very blessed today to have lunch with my bestest best friend in all the world, Kat. Since we live about 30 minutes from each other, we don't see each other that often. So I'm very glad when she calls and tells me, usually about 30 minutes before she's going to be in town, that she's coming up and asks if we can do lunch with the kiddos.

So, as our conversation always does, we started talking about blogs. I told her I thought I was coming to the end of my post ideas, and she told me that things always come up worthy of posting about. She's right...I mean, tomorrow is a holiday, for goodness' sake!

Having said that, I want to know...what are you doing to celebrate our country's independence? As for my family, we are getting together with our small group from church for a cookout, then splitting up to head to whichever fireworks display strikes our fancy.

Our church is putting on a big shebang at one of the local city parks, but we felt like a smaller gathering would be better for us.

A side question: Does your church have Sunday School or Small Groups? Or a mixture of both? Our church has Sunday school for the Senior Adults (Prime Ministers, as they are called...I love that!), if they choose, but Small Groups make up most of the body. I love our small group. All of my significant relationships I have in my life right now, with the exception of my husband as we were married right before small groups came along, were begun or strengthened through a small group of some sort. Even my beloved Kat, who no longer goes to church with me, became my friend through small group. You can read about that here.

Okay, enough mushiness about small groups and how meaningful relationships can come out of them and love for Jesus is strengthened, yada, yada. So, what are you doing for the 4th? Will you just hang out with the fam? Go to friends? Go to a big fireworks thing? I'd love to hear all about it!

Oh, and I have a special My Husband Rocks! post formulating for tomorrow! Aren't you all on pins and needles?

I'm leaving a comment like I just didn't see you earlier.

Tomorrow...I am making chicken salad sands for 200 people and 9 cheese balls...Johanna's wedding. Of course, I won't be alone with all of this labor. Don't feel too sorry for me. Not that you would ;)

Hey... our church has both Sunday school and small groups, though I'm not sure how many people attend sunday school. Our small group meets on sunday nights so I just do the morning service, no sunday school, and head to small group at night. There were a lot of people left without somewhere relevant to go, too, because a lot of us are older and single and there's no Sunday school for that. So as of yesterday, we're forming a bible study that will meet on Tuesday nights that I suppose will be like our Sunday school. :)
